These free community outreach courses provide best practices surrounding the first 24 hours of emergency burn care (from pre-hospital to hospitalization). Continuing education credits for fire/EMS personnel are provided for these courses. 

    This four-hour course focuses on the first 24 hours of treatment after a burn or wound  injury (for adult and pediatric patients) and is taught by BRCA fire/EMS educator, Lisa Smith. 

    At the conclusion of this virtual course, attendees will be able to: 

    • Identify demographics of flame, chemical and electrical burn injuries
    • Determine when patients should be transferred to a verified burn center
    • Present an initial evaluation and management of burns and other dermatologic pathologies
    • Present emergency protocols for replants of hand and finger work-related injuries
