The Emergency Burn Care lecture is designed for fire and EMS staff, as well as nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and physicians. Basically, anyone who treats patients in emergency situations will benefit from this training. 

    OVERVIEW 

    Dr. Mack Drake and NP Courtney Denton of Chippenham Hospital will teach four one-hour lectures on different aspects of emergency burn care. This is a closed Emergency Burn Care lecture for the Virginia Association of First Responders.   

    At the conclusion of this virtual course, attendees will be able to: 

    • Identify demographics of flame, chemical and electrical burn injuries in adult and pediatric patients
    • Present an initial evaluation and management of burns and other dermatologic pathologies
    • Determine when patients should be transferred to a verified burn center
