Lisa Smith, Fire and EMS burn educator for the Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America, will teach the lecture focused on the first 24 hours of treatment following a burn injury. This is a closed Emergency Burn Care lecture for EMS and nursing students at Georgia Highlands College. 

    At the conclusion of this virtual course, attendees will be able to: 

    • Identify demographics of flame, chemical and electrical burn injuries
    • Present an initial evaluation and management of burns and other dermatologic pathologies
    • Perform proper wound care that includes wound cleaning, decontamination and dressing application.
    • Determine when patients should be transferred to a verified burn center

    Since this is a closed course, participants must receive an enrollment key from their facility coordinator to self-enroll in this course.
